La Veta Staff Feature:
Hello! My name is Mark Lofgren and I am your friendly Head Custodian at LVHS. I have been working here for the last 3 years.
What do I like about working here? Definitely the people. I enjoy my co workers. Of course, the job does have its messy moments, but I like to keep a good sense of humor about it!
In my free time I enjoy golfing with my friends, spending time with my wife....and I guess my kids are ok sometimes too!
Meet Ben Ouellette, a super stellar custodian who has worked for the school for 3 years.
Ben says, "One of the things I like most about working as a Custodian at the school is having a real impact on the health of my community. Keeping the school clean and surfaces disinfected keeps the children from spreading illness both at school and at home."
Outside of work, Ben's hobbies include gardening, studying music, helping care for a TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Release) cat colony, Dungeons & Dragons, and writing.

The HS Volleyball game at Sanford originally scheduled for Aug 22nd has been rescheduled to Sept 18th. Please see below.

Welcome to the Redhawks Team, Casey Huff!
Casey teaches 4th, 5th, & 6th grade literacy W.I.N. (What I Need) groups. Casey says the best part of her role is getting to be part of such a genuine, enthusiastic team of staff who really care about the students. She values having a chance to connect with and make a difference for the kids in our close-knit community.
Outside of work, she loves being mom to her three kids, being involved in youth sports, traveling with her family, reading, and writing.

Welcome to the Redhawks Team, Liz Talafuse!
Liz's role is a Secondary Special Education Teacher, working with students in grades 6-12. She believes the best part of teaching is seeing students succeed! "Sometimes it takes several years to see the impact you've made, but this is the most rewarding part about teaching. I love when students transform their thinking to a growth mindset! "
Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and dog, reading fan fiction, and watching hilarious movies or tv shows!

Welcome back to the Redhawks Team, Travette Wells!
Travette is a La Veta High School graduate, class of 1989, and taught for the district in 2018-2019, 2013-2014, and 1995-1997.
This year she will be teaching 6th - 11th grade math. For her, the best part of teaching is getting to know her students as individuals because each student brings their own unique personality, strengths, and life stories into the classroom.
Travette's hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, traveling, and spending time with here son, Zac, as well as the rest of her wonderful family and amazing friends.

Welcome to the La Veta Redhawk Team, Sophie Krauth!
This year, Sophie will be working with two grade levels! She will have a 5th grade homeroom and be teaching 4th and 5th graders ELA and Math.
Sophie believes the best part of teaching are those moments when a student’s face lights up because something finally makes sense. She loves watching them gain confidence and realizing, “Hey, I can do this!” Being a part of that process never gets old for Sophia.
Her hobbies and interests are yoga, good books, traveling and games-equal parts relaxation, adventure and friendly rivalry.
