La Veta Board Of Education

The La Veta School District RE-2 Board of Education is composed of 5 volunteer members, elected at-large. A president, vice president, and secretary are selected from the board membership by a majority of the voting members. Regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings are held in the board room at 200 East Stadium Drive, according to policy exhibit BEDA_E and are open to the public. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AT MEETINGS La Veta BOE abides by all Colorado Open Records Laws. In that view, this is a meeting of the Board of Education in public. Audience input, knowledge, and discussion will be welcome, but limited to agenda items and as called upon by the BOE President.

Born and raised in La Veta, Peggy is a fifth generation native.

She is currently retired after serving as an educator for 34 years.  Her teaching experiences included preschool, kindergarten and elementary education, K-12 vocal and instrumental music, K-12 counseling and administration.  She is currently serving as BOCES President.

She is involved in numerous clubs and organizations in La Veta and enjoys working part time at the La Veta Public Library. 

Other interests include music, live theater, travel and reading.

Director Carolyn Rominger was appointed to the Board of La Veta Public Schools in November, 2023 to fill a 2-year term. Carolyn and her husband, Kelly, moved with their two grandchildren to live fulltime in Cuchara, CO, in March 2021. Carolyn retired in January 2021, as Chief Financial Officer at Ana-Lab Corporation, an employee-owned environmental testing lab. Before that, she served in senior financial positions for Robroy Industries and Performance Wellhead and Frac, among others. Rominger earned a BBA in Accounting from University of Texas at Austin and was a certified public accountant. Carolyn’s parents were both school teachers and she has a foundation from and affinity for rural education.
