Today, our school is conducting its first state-required fire drill as part of Colorado K-12 schools' safety protocols. These drills are an essential part of ensuring the safety and preparedness of our students, staff, and school community.
We follow the "I Love U Guys" Standard Response Protocols (SRPs) to guide our emergency procedures. This framework is designed to simplify and standardize how we respond to emergencies. For more information about SRPs, visit: iloveyouguys.org.
👉 Emergency Preparedness at Home:
This is a great time to think about your own family's emergency plan! Preparedness starts at home, and taking a moment to review or create a home-based emergency procedure is critical. Here are some resources to help you get started:
🔒 Lockdown Practice After the Drill:
After today’s fire drill, we’ll also walk through our lockdown procedures. Lockdowns are an essential part of school safety planning. Practicing these procedures helps students stay calm and confident in different scenarios by doing "mental modeling," which prepares them to react appropriately in various parts of the building during an emergency.
To make our drills more effective, we rotate the times and locations of these exercises so students are prepared no matter where they are at school.
Thank you for supporting our safety efforts! Together, we can ensure a safe and prepared community. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
